Easy access, you can drive a 4x4 right to the entrance gate.. A key is needed to open the door to the cave: the local, Minde, firefighters hold this key. No entrance fee.

Pena is situated in the same region as Alviela and Almonda and is fed by the polje of Minde. Most of the year the cave is dry, and only during favorable (heavy rain) winters does it become flooded. Water levels drop very quickly after the rains, and normally this cave can only be enjoyed by divers during a very short period in the year.

Pedro Lage has explored this system extensively and is a popular site for cave classes.

You need an authorisation from "Parque Natural das Serras de Aire e Candeeiros" to dive the cave.
